About
Monica Singhal is an Associate Professor of Economics at UC Davis. She is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a Faculty Affiliate of the International Growth Center. She previously served as Co-Editor for the Journal of Public Economics and on the board of the National Tax Association.
Research Focus
Professor Singhal specializes in public finance, with a particular focus on public finance in developing economies and systems of taxation and redistribution.

Teaching
Professor Singhal teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in public finance. She is the recipient of the Tom Mayer Distinguished Teaching Award for the academic year 2018-2019.

Professor Singhal has received a number of major research grants, including from Private Enterprise Development in Low-Income Countries (PEDL), the International Growth Centre (IGC), and the Jameel Poverty Action Lab (JPAL).
