Double Majors

The Economics major complements nearly every major.

Hear from students who shared their thoughts on these popular pairings:

Academic

“I enjoy that it challenges me. I also like that I get to keep mathematics in my life, which is something I have always enjoyed.”

“A lot of political science studies and such involve a lot of economics behind the scenes rather than just what we are interpreting and predicting with political science.”

Career

“Econ just opens so many doors, and it feels good to know I have so many options and fields I could enter after college.”

Academic

“There's a lot of overlap, and I'll give some specific examples! In ECN 100B right now, we've talked about types of goods (private vs. public vs. common pool vs. club). This is actually something I learned about initially in ESP 001, but I did not understand it at all, and this class actually helped clear it out.”

Career

“The classes are interesting, the faculty are great, and I feel like you can meet such a wide variety of people because of it being such a large major.”

Academic

“History is all about human behavior in the past and how people lived in the past. Due to the models of the world we live in today, I like to think of Economics as how people live in the present day. Is it how we want to live? Maybe, maybe not. But it allows us to know regardless and to gain a better understanding of how people live in the world around us.”

Career

“Economics is a wide degree, it doesn’t simply have to be financial coding. There is so much more that might interest you than you think.”

Academic

“Economics works so well with other subjects and in itself has crossover with almost any major you pick. I think economics tells you a lot about how people behave and think through certain lenses. I love that statistics gives me a chance to learn more about the applications of economics, as data is essential to anything done within economics.”

Career

“Economics and Statistics work great for the actuarial sciences field, which uses both extensively. They also work well for financial analysis/data analysis/econometrics, etc.”

The layout is clear and informative, guiding students through the process.
