How to Receive Academic Credits for Internships

ECN 92/192 Internship Unit Credit

Internships provide valuable experience in a particular job and potential employers get to know their employee, thus internships carry their own rewards.
 

Follow ALL three (3) steps outlined below if applying for internship unit credit(s):
Step 1. After you have already obtained an internship, you need to apply for ECN 92/192 units using the Academic Credit Webform.

Step 2. Once you have completed the webform, the Economics advisors will request review and approval from the Economics Internship Coordinator and the Economics Department Chair. The review process may take up to a week to complete, please submit documentation accurately and promptly.
Note: Incorrect/late applications will be automatically denied. 

Step 3. Once a determination has been made, the Economics advisors will contact you regarding whether or not you have been approved for ECN 92/192 units. If approved, an Economics advisor will explain how you can register for your ECN 92/192 internship units in Schedule Builder (i.e. share the CRN), and you can register.
Note: If you are approved to take more than 1 unit, you will need to adjust this in Schedule Builder.

 

If you are an International student with an internship, you must register for ECN 92/192 internship credit units and have a CPT approved. Follow these steps:
Step 1. Watch this short informational video from SISS.

Step 2. 
After you have already obtained an internship, you need to apply for ECN 92/192 units using the Academic Credit Webform.

Step 3. Once you have completed the webform, the Economics advisors will request review and approval from the Economics Internship Coordinator and the Economics Department Chair. The review process may take up to a week to complete, please submit documentation accurately and promptly.

Step 4. Once a determination has been made, the Economics advisors will contact you regarding whether or not you have been approved for ECN 92/192 units. Step 5. Once you are registered in the units, you must email the Economics advisors to confirm. 

Step 6. Submit your CPT request using these details in "Part 2" of the application in I-Global:
               Advisor Name: The Economics Department
               Advisor Email: eheadvisingcenter@ucdavis.edu
Note: the CPT process make take up to a week to complete, please submit all documentation accurately and promptly. CPTs will only be approved once you are officially registered for ECN 92/192 units. There are no exceptions.
