"Studying at the London School of Economics through UCEAP created experiences and connections that broadened my perspective of global history and economics. Beyond academics, I made lifelong friends, traveled to so many new places, and learned more about myself than I could have imagined."

"I studied abroad at the London School of Economics in Fall 2024. While abroad, I immersed myself in a new city and learned how to navigate its unique culture on my own. At the same time, I took intellectually rich courses that challenged me to view international economic relations from a different perspective."

Mendoza, Argentina

“I spent the fall quarter of my junior year (Fall 22’) in Mendoza, Argentina studying abroad with the Spanish department. Professor Colombi, who was born and raised in Mendoza, took a group of 15 students to Mendoza where we took a wide array of classes all at the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. These classes included: Argentine Literature, Modern History of Argentina, Applied Linguistics, and Latin American Cinematography. In addition to this, we had the opportunity to meet and spend time with the local students through a conversational partners class that was timed dedicated to practicing our Spanish speaking. While there, every student stayed with their own host family to really emphasize the cultural immersion, not just purely academic. My host family was lovely and invited me to all their family celebrations to embrace me as their own. Being so far away from home, this meant so much to me.

Mendoza is known for being wine country, so we had the chance to go to multiple wineries in the area and learn more about the industry as a whole and how it funds the economy. Another major aspect of this trip was the emphasis on spending time outdoors. We got to go to Patagonia and spent a week hiking throughout the various terrains. This was a great experience to help get me out of my comfort zone and make new friends at the same time. While there, I also traveled to Viña del Mar, Chile, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Colonia, Uruguay. Studying abroad was one of the most enriching experiences that I had at Davis, and I am glad I took a chance on a new experience!”
