Covid-19

Following the campus guidelines for Coronavirus all UC Davis classes, lectures, seminars, labs and discussion sections will move to virtual instruction and remain virtual through the end of Summer Session 2021, including final exams. Woo wins journal award for high-impact research on the Chinese economy

UC Davis Economics Professor Wing Thye Woo received the 2018 Best Paper Award from the Journal of Chinese Economic and Business Studies for his solo-authored article, "China Meets the Middle-Income Trap: The large potholes in the road to catching up."

UC Davis Economics Professor Wing Thye Woo received the 2018 Best Paper Award from the Journal of Chinese Economic and Business Studies for his solo-authored article, "China Meets the Middle-Income Trap: The large potholes in the road to catching up." The work identifies China as having become a middle-income country in 2007-08, as well as 5 sources of vulnerability likely to weigh on its historically high growth rates going forward-- a phenomenon called the "middle-income trap." The editorial board selected the paper based on the citations and impact of the paper in the past 5 years.
