UCD Economics Alum Selva Demiralp at the Bilderberg Meetings

UC Davis Economics alumna Selva Demiralp (Ph.D. 2000) participated in the 67th annual Bilderberg Group Meeting in Montreux, Switzerland. The meetings were initially set up in 1954 to create a better understanding of the complex forces and major trends affecting Western nations in the difficult post-war period. Some of the leaders and experts attending this year featured Stacey Abrams, Henry Kissinger, and Jared Kushner.

Demiralp is currently a Professor of Economics at Koç University and Director of the Koç University-TUSIAD Economic Research Forum. Her views on the Turkish economy appear in the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Financial Times, Reuters, and The Associated Press. From 2013 to 2019, she wrote weekly articles for Milliyet (one of the major Turkish newspapers). She currently writes for BBC Turkish News.
