Ruhi Dhayagude: Research Assistant

Name: Ruhi Dhayagude
Major: Economics and Political Science
Current Position/Status: Political Science Research Assistant

What do you do in your job? What is your work like?

I am a Political Science Research Assistant for Dr. Paige Pellaton from the UC Center Sacramento. This work focuses on examining California legislative bills in order to better understand how per-legislative careers affect the direction, quality, and effectiveness of bills produced. I also look closely into groups who report a stance on these bills in order to analyze external influence. A highlight of this work has been expanding on my research and coding skills as well as having the flexibility to travel around the world.

If relevant, is your current job related to Economics and/or the skills you learned from the Economics major?

Currently, I'm gaining professional experience prior to applying for graduate school and ultimately working towards a career in international economics or policy.

How long did it take you to get a job after graduating UC Davis?

Post undergrad, I spent the summer teaching math to 8th graders at Breakthrough Collaborative Sacramento and the fall teaching virtually through Teach for America's Ignite Fellowship.
