I graduated from Renmin University of China with double MS degree in Finance and Mathematics. In my junior year, I luckily got the opportunity to become an exchange student in UC Davis for one year. During this year, I took many courses in Econ department, both undergraduate-level and graduate-level. I learned a lot from these courses, not only the techniques needed in research, but also the  ideas and intuitions in economics.

Gradually, I developed strong interest in economics research. In addition, I was impressed by the friendly environment and gained a lot of help and useful advice from the professors and Ph.D. students. Whenever I was confused about my future, talking with senior graduate students and professors could always make me feel more confident.

This exchange study experience has greatly encouraged me to pursue graduate study in economics and devote myself in economics research. I dreamed of becoming a Ph.D. student like those warm-hearted people I met in Davis. I also dreamed of learning and making progress with the help of nice professors like those I met in Davis.

As a result, I decided to apply for Ph.D. program in economics. Professor Chris Meissner, Professor Dalia Ghanem (ARE department)  and Professor Colin Carter (ARE department) kindly helped me with my application, which I really appreciate. One year later, I was admitted by the Ph.D. program of Boston University. I always miss those days in UC Davis.
