UC Davis Economic history faculty honored

Profs. Clark and Taylor win awards for their research

Two Professors in the highly ranked Economic History group at UC Davis received honors this month. Gregory Clark won the Economic History Association's Gyorgy Ranki Biennial Price for the outstanding book on the history of Europe. Clark, who was also recently elected as Vice President of the Economic History Association, won the award for his 2013 book "The Son Also Rises."

Alan Taylor, along with his co-author Moritz Schularick, was awarded the 2015 "Schmölders Preis des Vereins für Socialpolitik" for the best paper published in economic history 2012–2015, for their paper "Credit Booms Gone Bust: Monetary Policy, Leverage Cycles, and Financial Crises, 1870–2008". The prize of 3000 euros is funded by the Schmölders-Stiftung für Verhaltensforschung im Wirtschaftsleben. It will be officially awarded at the next annual conference of the Economic History Commission in Bayreuth, March 2016.
