The Economic History Association spotlighted the contributions of UCD Professor Emeritus of Economics Peter Lindert by naming a prize in his honor. The prize will be awarded to selected books focused on economic history in countries outside of Europe and the U.S.

A renown expert in public economics, The Economist magazine also quoted him this summer in an article on repairing the social safety net:

"Nevertheless, since 2000, Canada and some Scandinavian countries, for example, have combined high levels of public spending with high rates of economic growth. Peter Lindert of University of California, Davis, describes this phenomenon as the “free-lunch puzzle."
